Our History

Fun Time Roll-A-Rena in Pontotoc was founded in 1965 by Herbert and Betty Jenkins. In 1971, they sold it to Mr. McDonald, who expanded the Funtime brand to locations in Jackson, MS, Southaven, Searcy, AR, and Baldwin. The rink was sold to Mrs. Angie Waters in 1978, and she successfully ran it for 40 years, becoming a beloved hub for families, kids, schools, and churches in the community.

In 1999, Herbert and Betty returned to Pontotoc. After Herbert's passing in October 2022, their son, Byron, reached out to Ms. Waters about buying the rink. On December 21, 2022, Fun Time Roll-A-Rena was returned to the Jenkins family. Byron, inspired by his father's legacy, aims to continue providing a “safe and decorous place” for the Pontotoc community.

Owner Operator

Born in April 1966, Byron Jenkins grew up behind the snack bar at Funtime Pontotoc, the son of Herbert and Betty Jenkins. He has been married to Melanie K. Jenkins since 1991 and they have three children: Cody, Trey, and Zack. Byron currently splits his time between Pontotoc and Southaven, MS.

Byron is a Sunday school teacher and deacon at Gracewood Baptist Church, a proud member of the Roller Skating Association, and active in the Pontotoc Main Street Chamber. He holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in accounting from the University of Mississippi and has worked as an accountant across various industries. Despite his career, Byron has always aspired to follow his father's legacy of owning a roller skating rink.



His greatest passion is helping children and families experience the love of Jesus and feel truly loved.
